STAN ALMOST LOST NEXT TO THE BEAUTIFUL
MUSTANG WITH ITS BONNET UP REVEILING THE MASSIVE HORSE POWER COMPARED TO THAT
OF THE FLYING EIGHT. |
As with nearly all the Classic car
events in 2008, especially those held on Bank Holidays the weather forecast
was far from favourable to the idea of sitting as a group for a nice picnic
meet in the sun. We were allocated eight spaces for the
New Forest Group. As the time drew nearer most members found that they had
other commitments. So with the weather on the day
starting with rain we delayed a decision till later in the morning. |

THE BLUE MUSTANG CERTAINLY GOT MANY
GLANCES FROM VISITORS TO THE SHOW |
By ten o clock the weather had
improved so two cars set off to enjoy the meet. After negotiating the muddy entrance
the following cars parked in the allotted area. A rare 1939 Standard Flying Eight
Tourer owned/driven by Darrell Cunningham with Josephine Longland. The 8
looked very small next to the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach Three owned
by Steve Burke and driven for the day by Michael Lewis accompanied by Eve
Lewis. |

After a few hours the temperature
started to drop. The highlight of the day was the
flying display by a Spitfire, Hurricane & American Douglas C47 (RAF
colours) WW2 transport twin engine aircraft known to many as the “DAK” or the
DC3 Dakota. Darrell took “STAN “home with the top
down, and the two ladies travelled back in the Mustang with Michael. |
