	Earliest parts of parish church 11th century - Mentioned in the Doomsday Book From the end of April 2007 Cocking Parish Church became the Church of St Catherine of Siena, Cocking. An ancient down land church which had no known name for all of its 900 years finally got one. The 11th century Cocking Church had always been simply Cocking Church. But at the end of April 2007 it became 'the Church of St Catherine of Siena, Cocking', formally dedicated to a 14th century Italian woman who used her comparatively short life to serve the sick, the poor and the imprisoned. Although no one knows quite why, one of the church's two medieval bells is inscribed with St Catherine's name and the congregation decided to adopt her as their patron saint.	Catherine of Siena, was born 1347, died 1380

Each breed's temperament or history is captivatingly illustrated in Roger's perceptive and absorbing oils and pastels. Born in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England in 1948, Roger began his lifetime artistic career at Huddersfield Art School. Leaving academia in 1969, Roger traveled to Florence to study independently and further develop his talent in the environment of the Renaissance masters and their works. Roger spent ten years traveling in Europe and Africa, creating his magnificent landscapes and seascapes while exhibiting periodically in Florence, Barcelona and Valencia. During this time Roger enhanced his striking use of light, form, and composition to render truly splendid works of art. Today, having returned to his native Yorkshire, Roger is creating his superb landscapes as informative backgrounds for his exciting canine breed studies-dogs that seem to live and breathe

DURING THE LATER HALF OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY AROUND 1884 A BEAUTIFUL RANGE OF BRITISH GARDEN FLOWERS WERE CAPTURED AND BY THEN USING A NEW METHOD OF PRINTING CALLED CHROMOLITHOGRAPHY WERE ASSEMBLED INTO A BOUND BOOK CALLED SIMPLY THE GARDEN AND CONTAINING SOME 173 SEPARATE PRINTS IT IS THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE ORIGINALLY PAINTED BY LORD PAXTON ALLTHOUGH OVER 100 YEARS OLD THEY HAVE SURVIVED TWO WORLD WARS AND EXCEPT FOR A FEW MARGINAL TEARS TO SOME ARE IN REMARKABLY GOOD CONDITION THE BOOK NEEDS REBINDING EXPERTLY
