WE
ARE INVITED on July 28th
to a |
BY THE TR REGISTER BBQ at IBM Hursley |

Having arranged to meet on route
for an evening run Dave and Val in their 1934 10 Tickford DHC & Darrell
in his 1939 Flying 8 tourer arrived at the parking area. They were soon joined by a Triumph
TR Sports. |

As more and more well kept Triumphs
arrived the two Standards began to look out of place but suddenly into the area
came a post war Bedford Bus followed by a GPO Morris Minor Van with a split
screen Morris Oxford. |

Although the evening was dry it was
unfortunately cold. This did not stop people looking around and a lot of interest
was shown in the two club Standards. 1Because both cars were equipped
with only 6 volt lighting it was decided to leave at 9 p.m. |

Before leaving there was time to look
under the bonnets and this plate was soon found under a TR3. It clearly
showed the link to the Standard Motor Company. The New Forest Group expressed their thanks for their invite |

Darrell did the last ten
minutes of his run home in the dark and used his new 6 volt Halogen bulbs for
the first time while not great they were a vast improvement on the old pre
set bulbs normally fitted on those early cars. |
